Dr. Ivo Aprilov graduated Dental Medicine from the Medical University of Varna, Bulgaria in 2015 and immediately opened his own dental practice in his hometown of Gabrovo.

He attended numerous specialized postgraduate courses and trainings in Austria, the Netherlands, Greece, Russia, etc. and focused his activities in the field of dental implantology and prosthetic dentistry. Since 2018 he has been actively working with the Alpha-Bio implant system, now a Key Opinion Leader for ABT.

Driven by his interest in digital dentistry and a desire to offer the highest quality to his patients by controlling the whole process, in 2018 he opened Rocket Dental Place, a dental laboratory where he tests different operational technologies and phases in state-of-the-art solutions for the design and fabrication of surgical guides and prosthetic superstructures. Dr. Aprilov has personal hands-on experience in the use of multiple software products: Blue Sky Bio, 3shape Implant Studio, Exocad, Exoplan, Cogiagnostix, Implastation, Meshmixer, Blender4Dental, R2Gate, Smile Cloud and others.

Dr. Aprilov is among the pioneers in Bulgaria in the design and printing of dental devices, such as the first 3D-printed total denture in Bulgaria. Initially, he made surgical guides for guided implantology for personal use, but gradually expanded to producing them for colleagues. This motivated him to invest time and efforts into researching and developing fully digital protocols for working in both medical and dental work.

Rocket Dental Place was one of the first laboratories in Bulgaria to offer its clinician clients assistance with: implant rehabilitation planning for totally edentulous patients (all-on-X), design and fabrication of stackable multi-part surgical guides, and fabrication of prosthetic superstructures.

Nowadays, Dr. Aprilov’s experience and services regarding the use of digital protocol in the rehabilitation of totally edentulous patients are also being used by doctors from other countries – Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Macedonia, and the number is constantly growing.

The accumulated knowledge and practical experience provoked Dr. Aprilov to develop a series of trainings on guided dental implantology, intraoral scanning, effective use of dental software products, etc. He is a collaborator of a number of Bulgarian suppliers of dental materials and equipment as a trainer for their clients. He is a co-founder of The Digital Study Club – a one-of-a-kind non-commercial digital dentistry club in Bulgaria, which empowers the digitalization of the dental society in the country. 

Dr. Aprilov speaks English and has an active social media presence in the field of dentistry.
